I am so excited to share this! I have been learning and reading and am so fascinated! Cranialsacral Therapy.

Cranialsacral therapy is an alternative medicine therapy used by therapists, osteopaths, massage therapists, naturopaths, and chiropractors. They are able to release tensions deep in the body to relive pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. They use a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams (weight of a nickle) and release restriction in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system.

So your brain and your spinal cord make up your central nervous system which is heavily influenced by the cranialsacral system (the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord). Every day our bodies and minds endure stress and strains that it has to work to compensate for. These changes cause the body tissues to tighten and distort the cranial sacral system. There distortions then cause tension to form around the brain and spinal cord resulting in restrictions. This all creates a barrier to the health of the central nervous system and potentially every other system it interacts with.

The only to detect, correct or unblock these restrictions are by using simple methods of touch, Cranialsacral Therapy. What the therapist does is gently feel different locations of the body to test for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid that pulses around the brain and spinal cord. Then special techniques are used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the cranialsacral system.

This therapy normalizes the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhances the body’s ability to self-correct and is available for the following dysfunctions;

  • Migraines
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Autism
  • Stress and Tension-Related Disorders
  •  Motor-Coordination Impairments
  • Infant and Childhood Disorders
  • Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ Syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Learning Disabilities
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Orthopedic Problems
  • Stroke
  • Neurological Impairment
  • And Many Other Conditions

*It was developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after yeas of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as a professor or Bio-mechanics.

Just in the last few weeks I have heard so many amazing incredible stories about the healing that is possible with Cranialsacral therapy. I have goosebumps just hearing it. They can be hard to find but I would so recommend this to absolutely anyone. People can also tie emotions into physical pain and problems, you will be surprised at how powerful this can be for your body and your spirit. =)
